We had a great afternoon sightseeing, thanks to another new friend Tatiana who drove us around the city. The highlight of the day was finding an Austin putilov in the artillery museum – we had asked if we could have a photo with our car next to it, but unfortunately it is on the top floor of the museum. Thanks to Tatiana who spoke to the curator and discovered that he had taken photos when they dismantled the car to get it upstairs – originally they had tried to pull it up a purpose built slope but they didn’t realize the engine was still in it!

We have an early start tomorrow, and a long drive of 180 miles on our way to Moscow. We’ll stop at Valday tomorrow and then Tver on Wednesday.
What a strange car the Austin putilov is – prefer your paintwork! Great news you have a rest day to explore St Petersburg. Amazing place. Safe onward journey
